Rainwater HOG: award-winning, re-usable, long lasting modular rainwater storage

The HOG tank was designed by Sydney architect and award-winning designer Sally Dominguez to store water in small spaces - against side walls and under houses. Seeking to store water horizontally under her front patio to feed the terrace garden, Sally was told by a watertank salesperson that it could not be done. She set out to prove him wrong - and designed a long low tank with a hole in its centre - the hole effectively removing the water load from the middle and preventing the horizontal tank from bulging.
Sally made the tank rectangular and sized it to fit between the timber joists of her deck - and the rainwaterhog was born. Once the rainwaterhog was able to hold water horizontally, Sally refined the structure of the tank so that it now can support its full weight on any of its surfaces without bulging. No other water tank is designed to be so versatile.

Jamie Hewlett, the visual mastermind behind Gorillaz and “Tank Girl”, has crafted a live-action masterpiece to accompany the first single from the massively ambitious “Monkey: Journey To The West”. The album, a collaboration with Damon Albarn, is out now on XL Recordings.

Invite your MP and MSP to Twitter.

Whether or not you’re into politics, I’m not really, I thought it would be worthwhile seeing what, if anything, was going on on twitter. I found @tweetminster and started following them. Checked out their website, and found my local MP’s details, Alan Reid, clicked on a button and the site automatically filled in a standard email asking him to join twitter and it sent it to him. Dead simples!

Unfortunately, TweetMinster have no plans to include MSPs at the moment but please take a look at their website. It will give you an idea of the growing number of twittering MPs.

So I figured I’d contact my MSP myself. Below is the text that I sent to my MSP, Jim Mather, asking him to join twitter. You’re welcome to copy and paste it into a request to your MSP asking him/her to join twitter. Click here to find your MSP’s contact details.

Dear ?,

As a member of your constituency and a local businessman, I’m writing to ask you to sign up to Twitter.

Twitter is a service that allows people to communicate and stay connected through the exchange of quick, frequent answers to one simple question: What are you doing?

Twitter has the potential to enable real-time conversations between Members of Parliament and voters. A Government that is open and engages in conversations with voters is a better, more transparent Government.

I’ve copied and amended this text from TweetMinster.co.uk, a service that showcases Members of Parliament on Twitter, allows constituents to find and connect with their MPs and ultimately promotes better and more transparent communications between voters and Members of Parliament. Unfortunately they have no plans to include MSPs at the moment but please take a look at their website. It will give you an idea of the growing number of twittering MPs.

You can sign up to Twitter here: www.twitter.com

I look forward to connecting with you on Twitter,

Best wishes,

??

Connect with me on Twitter: @??

Even if you’re not into politics I hope you’ll at least chase your MP and MSP, just for those that are interested, to see what they’re doing for us. We may, or may not, have elected them but they do represent us.

If you do do something, please let me know by tweeting me. Include @tweetminster in the tweet.

You could also have a moan at TweetMinster on twitter asking them why they are ignoring the Scots and why they haven’t set up a separate sister website for MSPs.

Cheerie

Davie

UPDATE (16th April 2009)

Jim Mather replied instantly saying he was too busy.

Allan Reid replied 2 1/2 months later saying he was “thinking about” joining.

Don’t let this put you off pestering your MP/MSP. Keep at them, good luck.
